The Most Rev’d Kattey said this at the formal opening ceremony of the 12th General Synod of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Port Harcourt.
“We must thank God for the health of our President, Muhammadu Buhari and pray that God will continue to grant him good health to stir the ship of the nation.
“Equally, we call upon Mr. President to understand that as an elected President of Nigeria, all the political parties and all sections of Nigeria are his constituency.
The Most Rev’d Kattey also described the church and government as partners in progress, adding that “where the reverse is the case, things fall apart.”
The Archbishop also commended Governor Wike for his support in hosting the Synod, stressing that it was the first time in the history of Nigeria that a serving Governor graciously accepted an appointment to Co-Chair a Christian committee of this magnitude, adding that it is a lesson to political office holders.
He said that the theme: “Thou Shall Not Steal,” is timely, concise and apt, especially for Christians of this generation.
“We believe this is a reminder and a call for Christians and indeed all citizens to take their proper position under God to confront the evils and challenges of our time and bring the desired change,” he said.
